July Verve Week Four

I can hardly believe that this is the end of July already. Where does the time go?
This is the last week for the July Verve and I just realized that the pictures are due up at SCS by midnight tonight for this month's sketch champion, so without further ado.
Heat embossed the dark brown onto kraft cs using the filigree bg stamp. the image is from Verve's 'Feel the Sun'. I popped up the central flowers and added some stickles to the centers. Air spritzed the dark brown over the image and the rest can speak for itself.
Thanks for coming by!

I entered this card into a challenge over at Paper Play where it's Anything Goes!!!!

I'm sending smiles to Michelle

is hosting a challenge of sorts. They are challenging card makers to create a card and send to Michelle
Oatman that is suffering from loss of her right eye due to an accident. There are several sites that are having card drives and fund raisers for Michelle to help boost her morale and help with medical costs.
You can get more info by clicking on Spoonful of Sugar above. Their card challenge is almost over and I thought that I would dive right in.
Whimsy Stamps has a freebie to honor Michelle.
A Spoonful of Sugar has more than several designers and creators as well as stamp companies
offering loads of images, stamps, and craft items as prizes for entering the card drive.
This list is just far too long to even think about showing you here.
I opted not to use the donkey. While he is adorable I wanted to be different. This image, a basket
full of flowers, is the perfect choice to bring color into Michelle's world right now.
Here's my card to send to Michelle.
For those of you that would like to send her a card, but not enter the challenge:
Please mail your cards to:
Michelle Oatman
17232 Wildhorse Pass
Marion, TX 78124
USA

I used a Daisy Doodle image called 'Just for You' that includes the oval sentiment.
I realize that it's on the flat side, but that's for postal service reasons. I did pop up with dimensionals the image and oval. Those of you that
know me and/or read my blog, know exactly what I am talking about.

I cut out the image with my favorite little pair of blue scissors and then used a finger craft knife to cut out the inside parts of the image. The papers are from DCWN, the Summer Stack (2009) and SU Passion Pink.
Thanks for coming by!
Try to leave a little love.
And if you can mail Michelle a card, please!

Verve July Week three

Might as well put the two back to back. Verve week two and week three, I mean. Verve week three you can view here for the sketch and the inspiration is from a website. Here's the link to the bathroom I chose for my inspiration this week: Theme Bathroom. Cards are not like bathrooms...LOL and thank goodness for that!!!!! Just didn't get the right look with my 'leather' accents directly on the dark brown so I fudged a bit...artistic license!!!!!

I clear embossed on So Saffron and then sponged on Crushed Curry and Creamy Caramel to get the color I wanted for the 'leather'.

A Little birdie told ME......

D2D, Delightful Inspiration and Double Delight are the feature today. the image is from D2D, Cluck, and the pop ups are the challenge this week at Double Delight.  They call it 'Popcorn Chicken'...how cute is that!!!!
I was looking for something different to use as a back drop and just picked up the tissue paper that was remaining from the flower. it's true color is with the close up. Below with the card it shows up so dark and the photos were taken just seconds apart.

For the flower, I folded a strip of tissue paper, fan style twelve times, and punched out with a 1 3/8" circle punch. Pushed a brad through and crumbled up each layer of tissue...starting on the top layer. Then pull each layer out gently to achieve the look and size that you want.
Thanks for coming by!

It's Your Day...Wedding Set

Challenge time at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenge

The set that Jules created is not only for a wedding but a birthday or a shower.
One of the DT said she was going to make her MIL a birthday card using the cake and banner images.

No, I did not make two cards. Just added to the one card. I like the Dazzling diamonds on the one, but the plain one took such a great pic of the shimmery silver card stock.

The first picture was taken when the sun was shining and the second after I added some high lights.
Which one do you like better?
the two flowers are both hand made. the top left is from the outer edge of the doily and the bottom right is from some white Primas that I colored with an aqua-painter and Pixie Pink and Pink Passion and Ruby Red.
Other than the image my favorite part is the fan folded ribbon behind the image.

The flower above was made with the outer portion  of the doily. Painted and touched up with a darker pink. it was fun and I definitely need more practice.

July 17th WMS Waltz

The waltz today is all about the color of the sea - green and blue. That's what I think of when I hear blue and green together. WMS says the colors remind her of Ireland. Either way it's all about the colors, so I made a tri-shutter card to show off more colors and the Big Blooms - Chrysanthemum set. For all the details on the waltz click on WMS Forum.
Now, there is some green and blue!! Popped up four layers of chrysanthemums, the one on the top is the inside of the one on the bottom, the other two are stamped and cut separately. There are a lot of creations to see, so I will show you a few close ups and text no more. Have a wonderful day, enjoy, and thanks for coming by.

 The End

Ahoy matey.......Arrrrggggg

Daisy Doodles Creative Challenge Blog is sponsoring a Treasure Hunt on Coconut Island, right here with the Daisy girls, known as pirates.  There's a stamp set to be won AND a $5 gift certificate to the store for the winner.

Didn't Rhonda do a fabulous job of researching the names of real pirates and real pirate occupations on board the ships back in the day of Black Bart. Her pirate jargon has me in stitches. If you haven't read Rhonda's rendition of the pirates jargon head on back just one 'X' to the challenge blog,  where the hunt started.

The most asked question is: how can I win this amazing Ahoy stamp set and a gift certificate?
Read on, Matey. Every stop along the hunt you will see a piece of a puzzle, comment on each post of the pirates, and at the end be directed to where you will name the 'maker' of the card and name of the stamp! Yes, I am leaving something out.... The hunt will continue through Saturday, with a winner posted on the challenge blog on Monday, July 19th, so there is plenty of time for every one to HUNT and get their entries in.

Hint: the puzzle pieces fit together to show a card.  Who made the card? What is the name of the stamp used to make the card? The answers to these questions will make themselves clear as you continue the treasure hunt.

All entries with the correct answers will be put into a random draw to select the winner.

Now some of the pirates will show you their cards/projects while others may not. Every one will have a puzzle piece and don't forget to leave a comment at each and every port o call.
Here's a list, matey of all me scurvy mates...ARRRRGGGG!

Coloring contest

Three of the grandkids are here visiting. We need a new roof on our garage and their Dad is coming soon to help 'raise the roof'. Their first morning here was all about helping Mims color her images. What better way than to have a coloring contest and the winner got to have their card posted on my blog. I finally had some me time to get the pics and show them to you all. I asked them to make cards, but that sort of fell on deaf ears. here are their ideas of cards....you will love the creativity...if not the 'cards' themselves. You need to know that Tom is 4 and Emma is seven. Elizabeth Grace is 2 and she didn't understand the concept but she can hold a crayon and wanted to color, too! Below you will see only Tom's and Emma's creations. Lily lost hers and Lizzie didn't want hers on the blog. maybe we can convince her to color another piece. these are all images that were already printed out. the kids went through the file folder and picked out what they wanted. Tommy knew that he wanted to do the pirate because he saw my card and just had to have pirate to color. Boys will be boys!

Megan still has not finished her can that we were working on...maybe next week....and there's always more cards to come from this visit. Stay tuned!!!!!!
Thanks for coming by! Images were from Daisy Doodles, Delightful Inspiration, and the giraffe has no owner, yet!!!!!

Vino

Time of the week for Delightful Inspiration, D2D and the Double Delight challenge.
Then a close up of the flowers...

I placed a paper frame over the embossed image to better hold it down, made some ribbon flowers, and a plain strip of ribbon in the corner. This was a very quick card to make not counting folding the ribbons into flowers.

Megan's Rose

Trying to get this card just right and I have one of the grand daughters here. she loves this card and wants to know who is going to get this beautiful card. I tell her, "you" as soon as I get the picture and post it to my blog.

I am sure that she will add her own touch to this card! More than likely it will go to her Mother as the sun rises and sets on her Mother. We shall see! I'll get a pic and post it as soon as she has made all of her enhancements!
The card is quite simple and I tried to follow the Verve sketch as this is my entry for July week one. I opted for room three with the white, silver and pink in the rose.

Megan should be here on Monday, July19th and I'll allow her to decorate as she sees fit for her Mom. Then I will post her artwork.
The rose is from Daisy Doodles and you can get it here
 Thanks for coming by!

The Daisy Girls

 SPONSOR
 Digi Doodle Shop

It's that time again! Time for a new challenge over at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenge Blog. Guess what? We have a sponsor this time...yeppers....it's Digi Doodle Shop. Judy had her people contact Daisy's people and they so kindly sent over some fabulous digital images for the Daisy girls to play with this week. The Daisy girls had a blast picking and choosing from eleven delightful ones. (Meghna is still visiting her Mom and we can't wait to get her back!) You will be able to link to each of the DG's from Daisy Doodles blog or from my right sidebar.  On to the card.....ooops project. I chose the Paper Dolls 1 since it was so adorable and I could give the set to the wee ones here. Our challenge includes a recipe 1, 2, 3 that must include
  • 1 ribbon,
  • 2 patterned papers
  • 3 brads
My card will qualify for the challenge since I could not get three brads and ribbon on my doll or her clothes! I just didn't have the brads or ribbon small enough for the tiny clothes.

Just Rite stampers was used to stamp the 'paper dolls' x 2 on the image piece. Plus, I used a sketch from Just us Girls.   Here are the dolls-with the card.

I showed Lily and Megan the paper dolls and got their opinions! Well, Megan did not like the clothes, go figure, she's five and a fashionista! Lily, on the other hand loved everything about them, the changeable clothes, the metal 'box', the card, and the little card that holds the base of the doll. The clothes have magnets in them to hold them onto the paper doll card! Lily wanted flowers on her base and she picked out the papers, of course, she only had the ones that matched to choose from!!!!

The coat has French knots for buttons. I did change up Judy's images a bit. Scroll to the end and you can see a pic of the set from her shop.
It will be interesting to see what lily does with this set! She's the one that usually takes all my cards apart, well, the ones she gets her hands on!!! It is an adorable set that Digi Doodles created and I had fun playing with it.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Thanks for coming by!

Red, White, And Blue

Here is one stop on the Operation Write Home hop/challenge. Any one can join in, each stop takes you back to OWH and the challenge which is birthday themed and some blog candy and lots of fun and plenty of creations to see. So you should be coming here from OWH and heading right back there!
Now for the card, mine is r/w/b for another challenge, but what better way to celebrate the birthday of our country!
This card was fun to make. It's a two part card because I had to use the celebrate that I tried a technique, resist embossing. the celebrate was way too big for the circle card- what was going on in my head would not work with the paper. Here's the MojoMonday sketch that was going on in my head-- the round one.
Then i was going to place the banner over the circle...mo, that just didn't fly with me. The banner was already made and the square card came into play. It's also a card for CTMH and I had no blue paper from there so - out came the blue ink pad, then the red and I like this striped home made bg paper. Plus, the banner fit and that's a big plus. Heart2Heart is a fab challenge blog for you CTMH crafters. Mary has great ideas and the rest of the team does absolutely gorgeous creations.
Here's the round card that slides in behind the banner.
And the two of them side by side.
The banner on the round card is blue painters tape that I put two pleats in and slid the stars right into. The stars aren't even glued in. They just sit where ever I put them.
Now, that should give anyone their fix of red, white, and blue this Independence Day!
Happy birthday, America!
Thanks for coming by!
