Operation Write Home

Here's the day that I have been waiting for- the Operation Write Home Blog Hop!

The OWH blog hop starts at owhstarsandstamps so you just might want to get over there and see what it's all about! If you have come from Kathy's Blog, Pass It On, then you are on a roll and exactly where you need to be at this point in the OWH blog hop.
This is my very first blog hop, been in a few waltzes on WMS but never a hop. I was surfing some of my favorite blogs and one led me right here. Thank you, Shelly! Right here to a blog hop. I knew that I wanted to do this immediately as a crafter that supports the troops. As a person that supports the families and soldiers of those that fight for my freedom. The soldiers that have lost their lives so that I may live in a country that gives me that freedom. I thank God every day for my life and ask Him to bless His troops and their families and keep them from harms way! It's the least that I can do! Before I forget, the sentiment image is from Ann at Raindropecho and it was a freebie! And I just spoke to her on Tuesday and it still is a freebie. Thank you, Ann.
For the inside I performed a little version of a pop up card, but in a spiral.
It is so easy to do. Punch or cut out a circle. I used a 1 3/4" circle punch. No need to mark the circle, just cut it in a continuous spiral and there you have your pop up! I tucked the outside portion in under the red striped paper and glued a large open star on top. The inner part is at the top of the card, glued down with a small blue star. There is an open red star just hanging around on the spiral and it is free to slide up and down the spiral. now, my regular stick to everything wonderful glue was not strong enough for this pop up job so I used Glossy Accents. It is the best glue ever for the really hard to hold jobs, and it dries quicker, just don't lay it on thick when using as a glue.
Here's a pic of my circle with thick black marker drawn in a spiral for visual purposes only. If you are unsure of cutting properly you could always use a pencil very lightly and erase before you take the top off of your glue!

Practice a couple of times on scratch paper and you'll get it to pop in no time. Don't cut too thin unless you have really strong paper. Kids can be hard on the pop ups. My 3 year old can take a card apart in 3 seconds flat!
For those of you that are ready to move along to the next blog, keep an eye out for Sherrie at Impressionable Art.
Thanks for coming by!

What a perfect sentiment for an OWH card. I can't quite wrap my brain around how to do the spiral popup but it looks fantastic. I'll have to actually try it myself to make it work. All in all, your card was a real WOW.

The pop-up is very cute and just has a zippy feel. I also love glossy accents but only when I want a hard crystal coating...for really super fast tack and strong hold with a very fine tip that doesn't clog, the Best Glue Ever from ScraPerfect is really amazing!
