Card Ideas and ME

Here's the Card ideas challenge from Designed2Delight that I promised you on Thursday.
As part of being guest designer for Card Ideas I had three challenges.
  • A Card- Bullfrog and Butterflies
  • Anything But A Card per Debbie's recipe here today
  • Monday stay tuned to Card Ideas for my final challenge
Debbie Fisher, DT extraordinaire for Card Ideas, has challenged us to a recipe
  • One ribbon
  • Two different patterned papers
  • Three buttons
So I got my project done and then went to recheck the challenge requirements. Come to find out I had no buttons or ribbon on this creation. What to do? Make another one? Add buttons and ribbon to be the rule follower? Leave it be and be glad it got finished?
Well, what do you think?
  • I added the required elements....you'll see them.
  • I made another one.
  • Glad that I got them finished.
OOOOPS! But wait....the challenge was a recipe ...AND..... ANYTHING BUT A CARD!
PHEW, I got that part correct...thankfully!!!!!
the tags that have Cardology and my name were added digitally. IRL they are blank so the traveler can add the country's name that will be included in this journal.  the four tags with brads are movable, they can be turned and jiggled to the owner's content!!!! The dragonfly collage of Delightful Inspiration was chosen because the owner of this journal is a shutterbug and she loves all things especially flowers and dragonflies. She will be traveling all over Europe and connecting with different groups of friends for three months. After coloring the image i covered it with Sepia glossy accents. here you can see it glisten in the camera's flash. The rim of the buttons also have clear glossy accents which gives them more depth on camera.
My two required patterned papers- the buttons and the background.
Almost all of the elements are sewn to the panel. On the inside I printed out a bit of history regarding Portugal.
Another friend is going on the same trip and I couldn't leave her out...so here's the second which I followed  the recipe to a 'T'. First, a close up of the tag.
And here's the journal......
First, I sponged black all over the edges and then got some cream acrylic paint and brushed it on over the black. Sprayed front and back with a sealer to keep the paint intact. made the front panel using a SU DSP of books and the typed page. three buttons and the ribbon were sewn down with gold floss. these journals are going to be traveling across the big pond and handled everyday, they need to be secure. This one was much easier with less elements, but fun just the same. I included a map of Portugal on the inside back cover and "10 Reasons to visit Lisbon" on the front inside cover.
Journal away ladies. they both receive their journals today as we are getting together for a two hour Segway tour of Clearwater.
there are two other gals joining them so you will get to see two more journals in the following weeks before the big trip in May.
It was a delight to go through the D2D images and pick the ones that I had for the Anything But A card challenge and matched up with the recipients of the journals.
thanks for coming by!
