Krafting an Easel Card

The Kraft Journal is a new hanging out hip hop place for me!
I entered a challenge and they really liked my card, so I am going to frequent their
challenges for the time being.
This weeks "Make it Monday" challenge #12 theme is 'flowers'.
the Kraft Journal asks that you use kraft paper or Kraft Outlet products.
I chose kraft paper....lots of kraft paper.
My first go was the card on the left....missing something after I took the photo and headed right back to the work table. The pearls on black make a world of difference. I hemmed and hawed about white or Very Vanilla ribbon...can you see which one won? I punched out several Kraft flowers and glued them down then tied my bow. It seems that lately every card has to be sewn and this one was no exception. Even Lily had me sewing on her card. She makes cards with me every day that she is here.
Sharing a few more pics with you.
Kraft punched flower with a prima, a sun punch, and a brad that got stuck with a pearl.
I wanted something different so made the easel card stand up on it's side...and I like it!
Card opened 'funny' so you can see the inside and view the outside at the same time.
I entered this card into the Verve Color Me Spring Contest.
Thanks for coming by!

Leaving DH home for a few days while I bond with my Aunt in Melbourne.
See you back here on Monday or Tuesday...next week.
Oh, by the way, just got another award from The Kraft Journal
TOP THREE
Thank you, Kraft Journal!!!!!!!
RX: Besides Kraft paper, I used a sheet of dp that I have had for about 12 years from Paper Pizzazz, a MS border punch, my sewing machine... obviously, white paper, Barely Banana from SU, black paper, pearls that are from the BOTD, three flower punches, and one brad.

Sunshine

Every one is looking for Spring to get here...in Florida, the Spring has SPRUNG!
Delightful Inspiration's newest image- Ladybug Bloom...free image, if you play along each week, is all about Spring!

Something took over my brain and I just could not color another ladybug black and red.....
so I didn't.  I printed three images out to, once again, pop up my layers on the flower. I printed the image onto the yellow gingham, and cut out two more. the ladybugs are popped up, also. I used VERVE'S "Feel the Sun" for my sentiment--Sunshine and Bountiful Backgrounds for the stripes and dots panel on the left. And, of course, the D2D, Delightful Inspiration's image. this card, also qualifies for the
Verve Color Me Spring contest.

For a look at all the layers-----
This sketch is right from Splitcoast Stamper's Verve Challenge Viva la Verve HERE.
While I'm talking Verve, I might as well post the other March weeks...right now!!!!
March week one ...HERE. Image from D2D
March week one    ....HERE. Sentiment from Verve
I made two  for week one.
March week two  ....Below
Verve's Sweet Scalloped Tag punch for my "Just For You" from the set Glad Tidings.
The shabby background image is again from Bountiful backgrounds in Basic Gray.
The Medallion stamp from SU inked in Soft Suede.
You'll see some machine stitching and just two hand stitched knots for a different effect,
then three black blingy bling bling, ribbon and twine.
March week three  ...below.
Verve's 'thank you' that was a gift for making a purchase.
A Cut Above die--Vintage Oval Frame, an old shamrock punch,
cotton twine inked up with Shabby Shutters, and a bit of sewing.
March week four .....right below......
I started out thinking--ALL WHITE----obviously that did not happen.
Went with Purely Pomegranate since I had a bunch 'o ribbon to match.
Obviously didn't go with the ribbon either, except in the photo.
Verve's "Feel the Sun' comes through for me again. Man, I need to win me some more Verve.
I used one stamp to create the flower and one sentiment ( the one with the word wildflower in it) to make the verse panel behind the flower. Have entered this card into the
Verve: Color Me Spring contest.
Trying to win some Verve that I so desperately need. You all must be getting tired of the same old stamps.
I need to win for you, my followers!!!

The fleur de lis is from the Bountiful Backgrounds set.
As for the embossing...folders are Vintage Wallpaper (way in the back) and the other one
I can't remember and I threw the pkg away before labeling it. It's from Cuttlebug...
if any one recognizes it ...please help and let me know the name so I can put it's label on it...please....

March week five is the card at the top.
Some months I work out of order!!!!
But then I am usually out of order.
All of my cards can be seen at the Splitcoast Stampers gallery...here's a link to my gallery there.
Thanks for coming by!

On the very first card at the top of this post the word 'Sunshine' came from the sentiment in 'Feel the Sun'.
I stamped the sentiment on plain white cs and then just punched out the one word that I wanted.
Easy peasy!

Lil Honey and Spring

Daisy Doodles new challenge is UP and it's all about SPRING

Whether you choose Easter or Spring Colors, Spring sentiment, or a Spring image make it
SPRING!
I printed the Lil Honey image three times for more flowers!
And an extra butterfly.
Popped up the top flowers for dimension.
Used the screw punch (here) to make holes for my bow.
Sometimes I just don't want my ribbon to go all the way across my card.
I can hoard more this way!!
Used the circle Spellbinder for an out of the box image.
This technique is not easy for me, but with practice I believe it will
get easier.
Want to try it?  SCS has a tutorial HERE.
Here is the embossed folder from Stampin Up....
It only embosses a partial A2 card...don't you love it? I sponged on Marigold and Vintage photo
Distressing Inks on the embossing , on the card base, and on the Spellbinders die cut.
OH, and I put one of those clear circular buttons/globs over the word 'honey',
as I thought it would make it look bigger...NO LUCK!

Last Chance

Tonight, Sunday is the last chance to get your Daisy Doodle challenge card up to WIN!!! The theme is GREEN any image, would love to see a Daisy Doodles, but any image and put some green on it!!!
Daisy Doodles is NOW allowing any image for the challenges, but you get extra points for using a Daisy Doodles image. This image is called 'The Rose' and I just had to color it in an orange shade...don't ask...just did, a very pale orange.

My DS had a bday party for his girl and she got this card...the party was last night and I missed it!
DH brought me home a piece of cake from the bday party. The BDay girl sent it to me! How sweet of her! I had another engagement that I just could not miss. Made a card for a bridal shower and I forgot to take a picture of it. I took the shower invite cut down the front, sewed some vellum on it, sewed it to another card base and card was done. the girls just loved it!!! Man, I wish I had more forethought ....... yesterday!!

Back to the card at hand. Used my Japanese screw punch to make two holes where the bow is right now.
I love my Japanese screw punch. Have had it for years and it will make a hole any where that you want it. Use it for belt buckle...new holes for smaller waist...hmpph , not mine. It cuts through layers of paper like buttuh!
Have rambled on long enough. Thanks for coming by!

Feature at the Kraft Outlet

Whoo Hoo, I have been featured on the Kraft Journal blog.
I received an email from Beth Moore at the Kraft Journal that this entry
had been selected for their Feature Friday and that it would be posted on March 25th.
What an honor! My very first and it was a St Patrick's Day card, too.

Thanks for coming by!

Catch a BUG

Here in Florida if you want a bug you don't have to go too far ......
we have a bijillion species of roaches, spiders...you name, it we have it.
Lady bugs?...we have them , too!
I haven't caught a bug since childhood and then my brothers and I would love to catch fireflies.Fireflies are not so prevalent nowadays unless you are in the woods and then WOW they are all over the place.
But back to ladybugs.......
I took Delightful Inspirations Catch a Bug and mixed it up with the challenge at
The layout on this one came from a paper shortage...I had  wanted to cut out a piece of Kraft paper
using the largest Label 5 die and so didn't want to cut into a whole pc of paper. There was a scrap just sitting there and it wasn't wide enough so I Cuttlebugged it anyway and stuck the Kraft under the strip on the right..
OOPS, I mean left. Sponged around the jar with Broken China dist Ink and pierced around the Label five.
Right now I am so hooked on sewing something on my cards. Better addicted to sewing than
eating...well, I am addicted to eating, too, but I can't eat while I am sewing and that's a fact.
DH says that I can't walk and chew gum at the same time...that's debatable!

Oh! the daffodil in the photo....did you say something about the daffodil in the photo?
My friend, Jeanne, gave me a pot o' daffs for my birthday!!!
I think they are beautiful. I took this shot from the sliding glass door into the kitchen/dining area.
The one with the card at the top is a nice shot.
Thanks for coming by!
Got any bug stories?

My First Banner

Made my very first banner on a card for the Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge.
Used a ruler then cut on the lines...no two are the same.
Here's the sketch and inspiration----
And here's my perspiration........
I used the phrases from WMS's set- Teeny Trees.
First I laid them on that lined paper, each phrase on it's own line then I took an acrylic block and laid that over the four phrases, inked them up all at once and then stamped...it worked out well, I think.
It saved time and cleaning....LOL.
Thanks for coming by!
No need for the ingredients/RX here since the stamp set was mentioned and the papers were all scraps.

Just Rite

Found a little ditty yesterday and thought that I would mix it up with a project that needs to be done.
A RAK...a random act of kindness is what Just Rite is looking for using their stamps.
I just happen to run across some sets that I had way back when...monogram sets with Damask
borders, to be exact. Would love to win something more contemporary and here I am....
giving it a GO. Have you seen their new images? AND they sell Nestie friendly stamps as well as the
Nesties themselves.
Made this altered note pad for a friend using some of her favorite colors, and gave the 'M'
plenty of ink!
Here's a pic of the inside...I stamped her monogram on each sheet of the notebook paper.
On the left is a pocket that I have planned to put in some crafty items!
Thanks for coming by!

Splitcoast has another challenge and it's another VERVE!!!!
Each month there will be a challenge by one of Verve's DT members...
they are all Divas, for sure. Their creations are beyond extraordinaire!
this month Tosh asked us to use neutrals with a splash of color to bring on Spring.
I used the sketch from Mojo Monday 182.
The flower and the 'beauty' are from Verve's 'Feel the Sun' stamp set.
I inked up the one word from one of the stamps and then punched it out,
sewed the dragonfly bead on and tied it to the cotton twine with the DMC floss.

when does St Patrick's Day

When does St Patrick's Day last all week?
When it involves a certain MOUSE!
The generosity of the Head mousetress presented  the digital world with this...
AND it's FREE...just head right on over to the WMS blog, you can check it out and you can download it for free from the WMS Shop. It's just one click away and two clicks to make it your own!
I love last years image and wanted to use it and some older stamp sets and this new digital image...
SO I DID!!!!
First thing that I did was open Word to get the two digitals to print.
I enlarged the Shamrock bouquet as large as possible on one sheet, and  three of the
newest digital in Claire's repertoire in three different sizes to match my Nesties.
The shamrocks behind the vellum are from the bouquet...Can You tell?
I stamped some Vintage Photo with the French Script bg stamp from SU.
Then I sponged, sewed, distressed, etc to get to this point.....
The St Patrick's Day label is in three layers and popped up with the middle frame being the highest.
I distressed the SU crochet trim with Shabby Shutters and Vintage Photo.

Then I made a card using the latest Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.
I have been making SPD cards since Saturday!!
(ED NOTE: This card was posted previously due to time constraints)
since this post will go live on St Patrick's Day it's safe to show some of the cards
that went out in the mail to buddies o' mine!!!!

The above cards were fast and simple since I had a few to make....some of them jumped into the envelopes before I could take the photos, but they were similar to these three!
Thanks for coming by!

Promise made

Promise kept.....
Here's the St Patrick's Day card that I promised for today!
The Pear Pizzazz and the vellum are both scored with the vellum over the stamped
I copied WMS's newest digital image in sepia, then cut out with Spellbinders label 5, and
colored with my aqua painter the background of St Patrick and the two shamrocks with Pear Pizzazz.
I used the corner punches first then measured for the vellum to be sure of a good fit.
It was sheer LUCK that the printed shamrocks were completely behind the vellum!
Thanks for coming by!

Angel Caroline

Angel Caroline is just one of the newest images by Faith at Delightful Inspirations.
You can get her with her eyes open or eyes closed and a flower and heart image.
I think her shimmery wings look just like a fairy's.
I like to get into WORD and do different things with the images that Faith has done.
To get the hearts and flowers where I want them I just click on text wrapping
and  then  through and then I can move the images all over the paper.
I copy and paste after I text wrap them then that pasted image is capable of moving all over also.
This isn't a St Patrick's Day card, but I did do one for today and will get it posted later!!!!
Thanks for coming by!

RX
STAMPS: D2D Angel Caroline
PAPER: BOTD, white (that bg is one sheet that had different blocks on it)
INK: Bordering Blue

INCIDENTALS: Green bling-BOTD, Sakura glitter pen
I used the sewing machine with no thread for all around the 'blocks' and with thread for the striped
panel on the left.

St Patrick's Day

St Patrick's Day is almost here!
I have lunch plans with some friends.
We used to go to a nearby Irish pub early morning before work on St Paddy's Day!
Meet up and drink coffee and have breakfast and chat til it was time to go to work!
the few times that the attempts were made to go out in the evening were thwarted by huge crowds.
Couldn't get near the bar much less get any one to wait on us.
Seems every one is Irish on March 17th.
OR at least desperately needing to celebrate with us Irishmen.
OR maybe it was an excuse to go out and drink green beer!!!
Annie is having us over to her place...hope she's serving something green!!!!

Daisy Doodles challenge is GREEN.
Grab a Daisy Doodles image and add some green whatever and join us for the challenge.
You have two weeks to get a creation up and posted.
The shamrock that I used is from a set called...WAIT.....
THE LUCK OF THE IRISH
It comes with 3 images and shamrock paper in black or green.
I printed out the green paper, slid it back into the printer and printed the shamrock right over
the green shamrock paper.
printed out another shamrock, but larger this time. Cut it out and ran it Through my brand spanking new CB folder, Victoria.  On the shamrock I sponged Gold Encore ink over that embossing. Sponged some Tea Dye distressed ink over the embossing on the card base after using the Victoria and Tim Holtz's Notebook EF.
If I don't count the time it took to get the printing done and all the cutting....
this was a really quick card! for those of you that might be interested
this card measures 5" x 5 1/2 ".
thanks for coming by!! loved seeing you again!!

Delightful Inspiration

this is the freebie for the Month of march as this is the first week.
make a card using this Luckybird and you'll get a freebie on Friday.
Those feathers were found laying around after the girls played with a feather boa...does that count as recycled?
Card ideas' challenge is Going Green, which means they want you to create a card using
Luckybird and a recycled something.
I took Faith's image and copy and pasted three different sizes of Luckybird to make this scene.
Don't you just love the real feathers for the birds tails.
it was tough fussy cutting all the wee pieces for the tiny birds, but it was so worth it.
they each have a shamrock in their mouths. How cute is that?
Thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed your company!!!

Under the leaves

Hot off the presses...oops, computer!
Jules just created this wonderful image and another one to go with it.
check out the hot supply at Daisy Doodles Store.
there is also a challenge going on at DDCC blog using a sketch and a Daisy Doodle image.
There's a challenge at CDAC and a free Bunny image for an Easter project, but
you need to hurry---March 9th is the last day!!!!
I used the Mojo Monday sketch for this one.
I popped up the flower and the top of the mushroom. that's a wee lady bug sitting on the
tiny mushroom. that was hard to color with the tiny shoes and green hat, not to mention the black dots on the bugs wings.

Can you see the jar of fireflies on the left hanging from the branch stuck in the ground?
I took my paper piercer and punched out randomly the holes and had stitched some green thread to add some 'grass', to be different. Lily was home sick and she just had to have her say in the colors of everything. Pink and purple are her faves!!!!!
