A Charming Stamp

Wanted to play again with Let's Ink It Up challenge #3
A favorite stamp and add a charm was the order for the day.

Waltinzingmouse Stamp from the Afternoon Tea set is one of my faves.
Added a teapot from my charm bin and affixed it to the bow.
Saw a layout similar to this over at SCS and for the life of me can't find it now to give the creator the credit.

Thanks for coming by!

Verve's week four and five

I have been so busy getting cards done that I have had to double up on my post.
so now you will get to see the Verve's SCS challenge of September both week
four and five.
for starters, here's week four:

Amber gave us three selections or a site to pick something for inspiration. I chose one of her's since the color scheme was just lovely. It was difficult to get a great photo in my craft room. the best I could do was one from the side. In this photo you can appreciate the tulle, liquid pearls, and the bling.
The stamped sentiment is from Verve's "You Rock"...go figure...right!!!!
In the middle of my inspiration room there was a tufted cushioned table/whatever! House to Home called it a footstool. Big foot stool if you ask me, and since you didn't let's get on with it.
Week five brought me back to my black and white mode. I almost always pick b/w since I like the combo so much. I added a bit of yellow using the stamps from Verve's 'Bountiful Backgrounds'. The senti and flower are from the "Feel the Sun" ss.
There was window/wall treatment that looked like silver vertical blinds, hence the silver shimmery paper that I scored every 1/4". I only used the first line of the sentiment.
Thanks for coming by!
I am going to be out of touch this weekend. Poor poor DH has to stay home and take care of the dog!!!! Verve chooses the winner on October first two days after this post will go live. Would someone please check SCS to see who the winner is!!!!!!
I would just absolutely love to have a new Verve set as a win! Send me an email...please!!!!!
Say a prayer and those of you who don't...cross your fingers for me.

Above is the Embellish Magazine challenge colors. I subbed the silver for the gray and stamped my own background in the yellow dots.

Wishing you comfort

Peace and Comfort
is the name of this image and sentiment. There is a set of four images and they were created by
Faith at Delightful Inspirations. There are a few more challenges that I considered for this card.
Double Delight, using Faith's images challenged us to distress and or sponge on our creations.
Over at Let's Ink it Up we were to use a favorite stamp and add a charm, but I can not add this to my challenges, as their rules are: you must have a stamp, no digital images. HMMMMM, you may see this
little number again with a different image and stamped at that!
I made my own charm with some things I was saving and a few that I had just bought.
White space is a challenge being added at Stamping Vacation, in addition we were to have our image in a corner. Hindsight is 20/20. I should have made this image much smaller so there would be more white space.

The verse reads, "Wishing you comfort in friendship and hope in prayer."
Hoping that I do not need this card any time soon!!!!

Big and hairy

I need an animal for this weeks challenge.
Does a spider count?
No, no math here today! Does it count?
Well, it's too late now, cause here he is.
Big and Hairy!!!!!
No it's not a gorilla, or a little fluffy puppy, or a koala bear, or a giraffe.
But he's all mine and cute he is!
The DSP is last years Stampin Up and I needed to bring out the web a bit more so I took my white gel pen and just dotted lines over the pattern that was already there.

Big and hairy 'Spidey' is one of two images in the Halloween Pack One from Daisy Doodles.

Day Seven and the last day of the Showcase

SEVEN DAY SHOWCASE
For the last card of this showcase I chose a birthday themed card using 'From Me to You'.
 Jules has a way with this little bear...isn't he just so adorable? I love him!
I had my way with him, too, as blue and yellow are my favorite color combination.
Plus, he is a $1 bargain over at the store.

Sing to the Lord....

A birthday party, a surprise birthday party Thursday night was the inspiration behind this card.
The challenge at Double Delight for the OWH contest was the inspiration behind the inspiration.
Had to use a D2D image that was not a Halloween one. This image had been printed out long ago and just needed some prismacolor pencils and paper.

Day SIX of Daisy Doodles showcase

SEVEN DAY SHOWCASE
The snail is from a set called Buggin Out. Isn't he so cute?
On the front you can see the first line of the sentiment that says,
"How wonderful it is
that nobody need wait
a single moment
before starting to
improve the world."
 Anne Frank
This was by far the easiest card to do...the longest part was waiting for the snail's 'slicky'
trail  of Glossy Accents to dry!
Can a card still be considered simple if there is some sewing machine stitching on it? My machine sits on the tall counter behind me for ease of use. I do unplug the foot pedal every time, to be sure that there is no harm to it or a wee hand or my finger.

Day Five of Daisy Doodles

SEVEN DAY SHOWCASE
Here are the Baubles from Daisy Doodles Store.
Have you been there yet?
This is the image that I got and it came with the free 'Stocking' that you saw yesterday.
The Painty came in handy to color the baubles silver. The jingle bells have been hanging on the CR door knob for almost a year. They were free at one of the Walks for Breast Cancer in ST Petersburg.

Day Four of the Showcase

SEVEN DAY SHOWCASE
 Daisy Doodles 7 day Showcase has hit the hump. Hump day at the showcase...LOL.
Just three more days to go.
Have you been to the store to take advantage of the Summer sale?
For this day I decided to use the stocking image.
Not $1, not $2, not $3 but free if you buy the 'Baubles' or many of the Christmas images.
The robin that you saw on Day three, if your purchase him the stocking is free, also.
Tomorrow you will get to see the Baubles on my Day five card.
My very first attempt at puffy paint. The only green that I had surely did not match the heel on the stocking, but I like the difference in greens. The puffy paint comes in a marker and is called Puffy Velvet. You just color, let dry, and hit it with the heat gun. The 'paint' puffs up and feels just like velvet, well, sort of soft like velvet.

DAY three of Daisy Doodles Showcase

SEVEN DAY SHOWCASE
Day three and it's time for a real $1 bargain from the Daisy Doodles Store.

The little robin is one dollar and he is sitting on a branch.
There was too much white space so I got out a spellbinders die, used green cs to add some color and texture to the two opposing corners.
I am reaching for simple in my showcase...how else was I gonna get 7 cards done in so short a time?

Tina came up with the idea and Rhonda and I joined in to bring you seven days of Daisy Doodles images.
The plan was to keep them simple and use the $1 bargain images.
I kept simple but got away from the $1 bargain twice. Not on purpose, of course, just got carried away!
The branch that 'Robin' is sitting on is  from the Floral Accents set and not exactly $1.
I did the shopping math and sure enough it works out to be $1 since the set contains two images.
Thanks for coming by!

Scaredy Cat

Delightful Inspirations stamp this week is Scaredy Cat, and isn't he so cute hiding behind the pumpkin? Do you think he knows that there is a spider hanging from his tail? While I was surfing the net I found another challenge over at Pixie Dust Studios that requested a furry or feathered friend.

That's all folks...thanks for coming by!
I have linked Faith's post regarding the Scaredy Cat challenge. Some of you might like to read her faithful inspiration above the challenge post.
One more challenge for the Fall season from Going Grey

Acorns

New image from Digi Doodles Best Shop. The challenge this week is use one of their images...three of them are free...and enter into as many challenges as you possibly can to win the top three prizes. I love the leaves and acorns image and certainly am NOT interested in finding enough challenges to win the contest. the other two free images to use if you want were 'Baby Bubbles' and 'Winter Window'.
Printed out after flipping one, punched with a brand new LARGE border punch, 'Leaves', added more cs leaves and ribbon and called it a day. Well, morning, since I finished it up around 3 AM.
Wasn't feeling well and sitting up was way better than trying to lie down, so headed to the craft room!
In between coloring did some laundry and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Day Two of the Daisy Doodles Showcase

 SEVEN DAY SHOWCASE

Ok, so the deal was to use the $1 bargain bin images at Daisy Doodles. Ok, so I goofed...I used one of the School Time images, so sorry. There it was sitting all by itself in my Picasa album and it just never dawned on me that it was in a $3 set. But I like this card so much I just had to show it off. It was an extremely simple card that took just minutes to make if you do not count the time it took the Glossy Accents to dry. Inserted the apple image in my Word program, copy and pasted four times, changed the sizes of the apples, then ran it through the Cuttlebug folder, used the border punch, colored and applied the glossy effects. ADD ribbon and voila!!!!
Finished.
Now that does sound easy...right?
I could have left out the embossing folder part and made it all that more easy...just an idea.
The School Time set is $3 but there are six images in the set. If you do the math and divide the six images into the price...the apple image is ONLY 50 cents. Way less than the price of a $1 bargain bin!!!
I call it my shopping math....HeeHee
You may call it your crafting budget math...LOL

Daisy Doodles Seven Day Showcase...DAY ONE

 Tina, one of our DT members came up with a great idea...showcase Daisy Doodles images for seven days in a row. The suggestion was made to use the $1 bargain images from the store.
Here's the 'Teapot" that I did an emboss resist type technique.
First, the leaves were 'colored' in with a green marker.
Second, I covered the leaves the handle, spout and lid with Glossy accents, and let dry overnight.
Third, I sponged Bashful Blue all over the teapot's image and then cut it out.
 Fourth, I covered the entire teapot with glossy accents and let dry, once again.

Waltzing with the mouse for Halloween

  It's that time of the month again.......time to put on your dancing shoes to
WALTZ with the MOUSE

 I do not own one Halloween stamp from WMS...I stared at the few WMS stamp sets that I do own...looking for a stamp that might resemble a bat, or witch, or pumpkin.....nothing! Then decided that I really wanted to join the dance since I have not missed one since it's conception. It has to be WMS stamps...but that doesn't mean I can't use punches...or how about a freebie template from Claire's store. BINGO, I hit something and the light came on. Here's a shot of the goodie box (Sweetie Pouch) before it gets filled. AND a pic of the cauldron that I made with punches. I started out with a pumpkin made from punches and then when I made the sentiment tag, the cauldron just made more sense. The pumpkin will be available in a future post.

The cauldron, I found here at Penny's blog. Thank you, Penny!
The sentiment is three words that I found from the WMS Afternoon Tea Sentiments.
I used the leaves from Big Blooms for my 'fire' to brew the treats and the leaves that hold the treat bag at the top.
For the freebie 'Sweetie Pouch' and the stamp sets here's a link to the WMS store.
And the finished product:
I had brown 'grass' in there, too, but ended up taking it out as it took away from the leaves and the inside of the sweetie pouch.

Bookmark Tag

 DDH requested a bookmark for her birthday.....what!!!! ....that's all!!!!!
Let's Ink It Up has a challenge that ends tomorrow, Australia time,
Which means in about 6 hours from now.

There was a tag all crumbled up and stained with Peeling Paint sitting on my work table. I stamped a few times with some Club Scrap rubber stamps and a happy Birthday from SU, the Vintage labels set. Got out the brand new Fired Brick distressing ink re-inker and painted some red on a few areas added Antique Linen and some crocheted trim again from SU. Stamped Happy Birthday all over the back in black. Had to keep it relatively flat since she will be using it as a bookmark.
Thanks for coming by!

ED Note: seems that is not all that DDH wants for her birthday! John and I had a chance to talk over dinner tonight and he said she requested a new faucet for her kitchen and one for her laundry tub. so the girl knows what she wants and who to ask!!!! wonder if we are headed over to the East coast to install both items?
John said he could tell the 7 y. o. how to install them and she would fare better than the two adults in the home. some ppl just don't like messing with the plumbing!!!!
Had to share.

I picked the paper first then colored the image. this CTMH paper was so busy I decided to leave the bear bare. I like him......I masked him and sponged Bashful Blue while leaving the Nestie intact.
Double Delight challenged us to sew either by machine or faux. Carly had a really cute sketch and I went with that, too!

Daisy Doodles and simple

There's a new challenge at Daisy Doodles...starting today. They call it simple with only one embellishment.
My card was so simple I decided to make three. I had a birthday party to go to. The brand new baby, Kevin was born September 3, his two sisters' bdays are Sept 5th and 8th. Kevin's, my son, is Sept 12. Next year we will have to buy 4 gifts for one party. They always celebrate all the birthdays with one party. Better start a Christmas account just for the September birthday club. Let me not forget that one of our DD's bday is Sept 20th. Anywho, I made these three simple, very simple.
And there is no inside, but the greeting is on the pull out card.
Ariel just loved that is was different. It was funny to watch her try to open the card, then she realized...pull the yellow ribbon!
The next card was for Casidhe, she's seven, and she only cared about the gifts. Typical!
The inside was a piece of scrap that had been shoved through the Cuttlebug a number of times prior to the birth of this card.
White paper has seen CB folder 'Textile' and more than a couple of nesties, round and oval scalloped. It had a very interesting center that was plain and tons of marks all around it. sponged it with Ballet Blue to bring out the textures. I thought it looked cool.
Last but not least, my fave.
I got into the deep sea fishing tackle box and raided it. Found several huge hooks and settled on a somewhat smaller one. I like that it was dark and shiny. Tied it to the paper with fishing line.
All the images you see here are from the Daisy Doodles store. The sentiments are from the same set, 'Only Words'.
The birthday candles are from the set by the same name 'Birthday Candles'.
Thanks for coming by!
Hope you enjoy the rest of the DT creations.

10/12/10 Are you ready for the winner?
 I put the names in the can (twice for those that sent a friend)
The winner of Ribbon and more is
Cheryl
Cheryl, give me a high and your pertinent info
and I'll pop the goodies in the mail to you today!

 ``````````````````````````
My first ever blog candy
RIBBON
Now, here is what I have to offer
 Become a follower, leave a comment,  and get a friend over here to do the same. The lucky commenter will receive 10 yards of ribbon, at least three six different colors and styles. If your friend wins, you, too, will win a package of ribbon, make sure that your friend mentions your name. It's like having your name in twice but you only enter once. This contest will run through October 10th at 10 PM. The winner and friend will be announced on October 14th. Please, only one entry per person.
(You can get more friends to comment, become followers and mention your name and that will increase your chances.)
Good Luck to each and every one of you!!!
 9/12 I have decided to add a magnetic sheet (5" x 8") for the Cuttlebug to help with the Spellbinders...Keep an eye open for more candy to add to the package.
09/13 I just received some Stampin Up crochet trim to include as one of the ribbons and I ordered some SU RED bias tape.
ED NOTE:09/29 I got my Stampin Up order in today, the red bias tape is now vanilla. I must have goofed! But really the vanilla is by far better as you can add your own color to it to change it up a bit and then crinkle it. The red that was in the order is 1/4" grosgrain so that will be in the candy package, too!
Ribbon Candy and Badges
Badges for the Design Team, Badges for the winners of challenges, Badges for the DT coordinator, Badges for the Assts to the coordinator, Badges, Badges, Badges
Hello again from all the girls :)
We have had an idea that we are hoping everyone will get involved in.
We like to keep things fresh and now it's time for a change, we need new badges!
Do you think you can help us?
Here's what you would need to do.
Design a badge that you think would fit in with the Daisy Doodles theme.
It can be drawn, made up as a card, made digitally, however is easiest for you.
It would need to be light and fresh looking (no Dark colors) and of course have a daisy in there somewhere lol.
Other than that, you have free license to see what you can come up with.
We would just need a pic of the final result (Jules will make up all badges needed using the winners idea as a template to work from)
The winner will be picked from all entries by the whole team.
The winner will receive a $10 gift certificate to the store AND 2 pairs of Fiskars hand punches,
these have a retail value of £16/$25!!!!
Fiskars.jpg
All entries will receive a stamp of choice from the $1 section in store.
Please send all entries to
Daisydoodlescc@gmail.com with Badge in the subject line and your choice of $1 stamp.
Thank you for reading this AD!
I moved my ribbon candy to here.
Same paper
If you think this paper looks familiar...you are right! I used the same ones here that I used for this card. I love it when the scraps from one card just move into the plans for the next one. AND they are both being posted the same day! I like to stretch the cards out over different days, but they are both due by tonight!!! No stretching here today! This card was designed for Delightful Inspirations, Double Delight and Sketch's by Carly. All three challenges tie into one another. Carly is the niece, ten eleven years old, of one of the creators of Double Delight. Double Delight requires that you use Delightful Inspirations, D2D images for their challenges.
As I was looking for a sentiment to fit the center of the wreathe, I saw this wee squirrel, and every time I see an acorn I think of squirrels...so here he is with his green shirt, eying the acorns on the wreathe.
True Love and Sympathy
A friend that I haven't seen in a very long time, like 11 years lost her Mom last week. Ruth died on the 22nd anniversary of her darling husband's death. Now that is true love..to wait for just the right day to go to the Lord!
Here's a shot of the layering....
Since I was handing it to Belinda, it didn't matter how thick the layering would be.
I kept it rather simple and used the WMS clear stamps from Claire's store.
All the elements are WMS except the paper and the Spellbinder's die, and of course the gold embossing powder. I saw this cross used on Claire's Gallery by Julia Ashton and decided to CASE it. Definitely changed it up as I do not like to copy directly from another card...unless it's in a class or stamp camp.
Wedding card and envelope
 My DDL asked me to make a shower card that had more than one 'page' so all her co-workers could sign one card...and there be plenty of room. Here it is!  Well, that new young Mom asked DDL if I would make a wedding card for a wedding she was attending and needed a multi-page card. No problem...put my thinking hat on and asked a few questions like color, size, theme, etc. DDL came back with floral, three pages, no black/white, oh and Mom can you put a gift card holder in there, too? SURE, no problemo! "Mom, she really liked that her shower card had stamped images on each page, can you do that, too?"
"Absolutely!"  I said.
Now, where else can you go and order a wedding card with specifications like that?
From a paper crafter, that's where!!!!!!!
This was fun, easy, took some time to decide on the stamps and colors. DDL helped me a bit with that part.
The basket of flowers, 'Just For You', from Daisy Doodles is popped up in the middle...a lot and not at all on the sides, so it looks very rounded IRL. I love white and natural and cream all together, so that and 'Just for You' was my inspiration. All the cs was cut at 5 1/4" square and scored 1/2" on the left on all the pages and then I used  a Cropadile to punch the holes and run ribbon through them.
Above is the inside cover and page using  sentiment, roses and background stamp, 'Beyond the Basics'.
The embossing was a CB strip on the far right.
Above, 'Love Matters' --"I love you more today than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow."
Above, one of the stamps from "A Gentler Time"
Again, 'Beyond the Basics', which is used on every page in a different soft hue.
That bg set has  four stamps, butterflies, hearts, roses, and spirals.
The rose image is from a singlet that I bought years ago when two of the DD's got married.
Yes, their wedding days were seven months apart.
On the right, above, you can see the gift card holder that I embossed with a different strip.
The GC holder cs was cut at 5 1/4" x 8" scored and folded in half and then I punched out the space for the card.
Above.... A different angle of the GC holder with a GC in it.
The backside of the GC holder and the inside back cover that is scored in a diamond pattern.
Last, but not least, below is the box that I made for the card, below.
I guess you would call it a box envelope. It's 1/4" thick and the card just slips right in after you slide the bow down and open the flap. Easy peasy.
French Flair is a large bg stamp from  and I used Antique Linen Distress Ink from Tim Holtz, to match all the sponging that was done all over the card and box. The card dimensions are 5 1/4" square and the box measures just 1/8" larger than the card.
Hope you enjoyed this LONG post.
